As
Commander of the Technical Services Division of the Clayton County
Police Department, Major Phil Cheekl, a 29 year veteran of the Clayton
County Police Department, is responsible for the supervision of
the Property and Evidence
Unit,
Records Unit, Buildings
and Grounds Unit, and the Crime
Scene Investigations Unit.
The
Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for the logging and secure
storage of thousands of pieces of evidence submitted to the unit
each year by officers of the Clayton County Police Department. The
Property and Evidence Unit is located on the ground level of Police
Headquarters at 7911 N. McDonough Street, Jonesboro, Georgia and
is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
The
Clayton County Police Department's Records Unit is responsible for
processing and maintaining approximately 65,000 case files annually.
The Records Unit is located inside Police Headquarters at 7911 N.
McDonough Street, Jonesboro, Georgia and is open Monday - Friday
from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
The Building and Grounds Unit is responsible for ensuring that the
maintenance needs of Police Headquarters, the North Clayton Police
Precinct, the South Clayton Police Precinct and all property and
grounds of the police department are met by requesting appropriate
work orders through the Clayton County Government.
The Crime Scene Investigations Unit is responsible for processing
and collecting evidence at thousands of crime scene locations each
year. There are currently three (3) Supervisors and eight (8) Investigators
assigned to the Crime Scene Investigations Unit which is staffed
24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
