As
Commander of the Administrative Services Division of the Clayton
County Police Department, Major Don Colburn is responsible for the
supervision of the Budgetary / Crime Analysis Unit,
Buildings
and Grounds Unit, Community Affairs Unit, Training Unit, Range Master
and the Vehicle Maintenance Unit.
The Budgetary / Crime Analysis Unit is responsible for conducting
thorough research for the police department on many administrative
and operational areas. The Budgetary / Crime Analysis Unit is assigned
to the Chief's Staff and its commanding officer reports directly
to the Chief of Police. Functions of the Budgetary / Crime Analysis
Unit include:
Planning and managing a $19 million dollar annual budget for the
Police Department.
To see that goals and objectives of all grants at the Clayton County
Police Department are consistent with those criterion set by the
State Crime Commission.
Formalization of policy and procedure - solutions to problems in
operational areas.
Recommendations on technology which will improve present systems,
cut costs in the long run, and keep operations up to date.
Maintaining a database of all crimes committed within the unincorporated
areas of Clayton County.
The
Building and Grounds Unit is responsible for ensuring that the maintenance
needs of Police Headquarters, the North Clayton Police Precinct,
the South Clayton Police Precinct and all property and grounds of
the police department are met by requesting appropriate work orders
through the Clayton County Government.
The Vehicle Maintenance Unit is responsible for
ensuring that police department fleet vehicles are well cared for
and properly maintained. The unit maintains a database of mileage,
damage, repair costs, and general age of vehicles, among other things,
to determine when they should be replaced. The unit also works with
Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (E.V.O.C.) Instructors and schedules
demonstrator prototypes of the latest law enforcement vehicles to
determine suitability for use within our agency.
